Hi, i am planning to visit Japan from April 17-23. I will be travelling in and around Tokyo and plan to use trains and metro. I will be based in Tokyo throughout. I have a weekend in-between and plan to visit Mt Fuji and the five lakes area on the Shinkansen (this means 2-days travel on the Shinkansen). Since my travel outside of the Tokyo area will happen only on 2 days, is it cheaper for me to buy a 7-day JR pass or to buy prepaid travel cards such as Pasmo/Suica and buy a Shinkansen ticket separately for the two days? Your response will be of great help. Thanks in advance!

Hello there,
For your trip it would be cheaper to buy normal tickets as you travel. A JR Pass is useful if you'd make trips a bit further. Think of going to Osaka, Kyoto and beyond.
