Hi there
We will be in Japan to ski between Jan 1st and 6th. We will also go to Kyoto and a couple of other places so know we need a few days of a pass. What I’m wondering is how to book actual train times and seats, especially on New Year’s Day from Tokyo to ilyama when we need to connect to a bus to Nozawa Onsen. Can we do this online?

Hi Kim,
We don't have the ability yet to book seats online through JR Pass (though I hope this is coming soon!). Until then, the best way is to book seats in person. You can do so at any time in Japan, after activating the pass.
No reservations are needed/can be made for the Nozowa Onsen bus, see here for details.
