So I'm going to Japan in 1 month, We're going to Tokyo, Lake Kawaguchigo, Kyoto, Nara, Osaka and Hiroshima.
I know the JR pass will get me to all those places (except for Kawaguchigo) But will the JR pass help getting around the cities as well, like subways or will that be another expense?

I also noticed there are 2 prices when doing the JR calculator; one for 419.00 and one for 483.79. Which one do I pick for my travel?

Any and All advice for using the JR pass will be greatly appreciated :)

Thank You!!

Hi there,

The JR Pass does cover local JR lines around major cities like Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka. You can use them free where available. In cities like Hiroshima, there's a handy free sightseeing bus that you can use with the JR Pass and the ferry to Miyajima is covered as well.

I don't know what your search was in the fare calculator and it would be hard for me to say without seeing it. That said, both a 7-day and 14-day JR Pass would work well here.

Hope this helps :)
Daniel
