Hi there,

For this trip no, I don't think it'll be a good idea for you to use a JR Pass as most of your travel is within metro areas and long distance travel to Hokkaido is being done by plane.

Hope this helps!

Hi Mari ,

If I travel from Tokyo to Osaka for two nights to replace the previous plan on 22nd and 23rd , the rest remains. Do you think I should buy the 7 days JR Pass ?

Thanks for your help.

Hi there,

Yes - In general the cost of a 7 day JR Pass (¥28,300) is the same as a return trip from Tokyo to Osaka so if you do that trip then I do recommend the 7 day pass.

If you get a 7 day Japan Rail Pass for this trip, then any other JR travel you do around Tokyo (map of Tokyo JR lines), or other day trips from Tokyo (eg Nikko) would also be free. It would also cover a large portion of your travel to Mt Fuji and Hakone.

Hope this helps!

That's great , Mari.

Which also means that it covers the airport transfer from haneda to airport and airport to narita using NEX , this pass also can travel within osaka for free too , am I correct ?

I notice the timing for exchange office at haneda airport closes at 6.30pm and i will reach haneda only at 11pm , do you know any other alternate arrangement ?

Hi there,

The JR Pass will cover your airport transfers (Tokyo Monorail from Haneda, NEX to Narita), and will cover JR lines within Osaka, however will not cover the Osaka metro system, for which you will need to purchase individual tickets as needed.

Regarding exchange office times - I'm afraid there is no simple option for late arrivals and you will need to visit an exchange office the next day. As a plus, the cost of travel into Tokyo is not so expensive, so travel into the city should not break the bank.

Hope this helps!
