Hello everyone,

I want to aks you if its worth buying a JRPass in general for our trip to Japan. (Planned 21 day ticket)
It's our first trip (2 people) to Japan.

Our trip:

1st August:
Arrival in Tokyo

2nd-14th August:
Tokyo, but we planned on doing daily trips to areas nearby like Fuji or smaller cities.

15th August:
Tokyo to Osaka

16th-20th August:
Osaka, but we planned on doing daily trips to areas nearby like Kyoto.

I dont know how much the prices are for 2 hour trips with the train. (Local or Shikansen) I have a feeling that taking local trains instead of the Shikansen we spent much more time in the train .

Thank you :)

Hi there,

I recommend using our Fare Calculator to find the total cost of your itinerary and compare it against the cost of a JR Pass.

So far your most expansive travel is from Tokyo to Osaka but I think you would have to include more travel in order to make savings using a JR Pass.

Hope this helps,
