Our itinerary:
day 1 - arriving at Narita Airport (Narita express to Shinjuku)
day 2 - Tokyo
day 3 - Tokyo
day 4 - Tokyo to Hakone to Tokyo
day 5 - Tokyo to Kyoto (via Shinkansan)
day 6 - Kyoto
day 7 - Kyto to Nara to Kyoto
day 8 - Kyoto to Osaka
day 9 - Osaka
day 10 - flying out from Osaka Airport

We will like the use local trains and/or buses in the cities. Not sure which JR passes will fit our itinerary best. Any suggestions or advice will be welcome. Thanks!

Hello there,

For this itinerary I think buying normal tickets is the best way to go. You will stay below the price of a 7 day JR Pass by traveling one way Tokyo - Kyoto/Osaka.

I think your itinerary looks great for the rest, there's a good balance between the traditional and the modern Japan.

Have a great trip!
Daniel

Thank you Daniel-san and Toraneko!

Are credit cards accepted in the train stations?
