Here is the first half of my itinerary:
Land at Kansai Airport and straight to Kyoto for 3 nights
Kyoto to Takayam for 1 night
Day trip from Takayama to Shirakawago
Takayama to Shinjuku for 5 nights

May I know if I should buy the JR Kansai Area Pass 1-day or Takayama-Hokuriku Area Tourist Pass?

Thank you

Hi there,

You could indeed buy both and use the JR Kansai Area Pass 1-day for travel from Kansai to Kyoto and the Takayama-Hokuriku Area Tourist Pass if you travel via Kanazawa to Shirakawago and Takayama. Although it is better to buy normal tickets if you directly go from Kyoto to Takayama.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Kansai Airport to Kyoto -3 nights
Kyoto to Takayama 1 night
Takayama to shirakawago-day trip
Takayama to Shinjuku -5 nights
Shinjuku to Osaka -4 nights

Hi again :)

I checked your full itinerary to find the best option and recommend purchasing a 7 day JR Pass if you can use it from Kyoto - Takayama - Tokyo (Shinjuku) - Osaka. This will give you very good savings over normal tickets.

There's no other pass that would match your itinerary.

Hope this helps :D
Daniel
