Hi, I will be reaching Tokyo on 1 Dec. We plan to take the bullet train to Hakodate on 5 Dec and travel up to Sapporo on 6 Dec. Will be visiting Sapporo, otaru, Tiene, Tomamu, hell valley or lake toba and return back to Tokyo on 11 Dec. Spend the rest of the days in Tokyo and will leave Tokyo on 17 Dec. . Need your advice should I purchase the 7days JR Pass or JR East South Hokkaido Pass? Can the JR East South Hokkaido Pass can be use in Tokyo or fully in Hokkaido? My family and myself thanks you in advance for reading my query and appreciate it if you can provide some answers to us.
Which JR Pass to use?
Hi there,
I would use a 7 day JR Pass here. As the JR East South Hokkaido Pass only goes up to Sapporo and would not cover some of your side trips in Hokkaido. Details on coverage are here.
A 7 day JR Pass will cover all your travel and will not limit you in any area. There is also no Green Class option available for the JR East South Hokkaido Pass, Green Class is really nice if you spend long trips on the train (such as Tokyo - Sapporo).
Hope this helps,
Daniel
Thanks for the advice:) Daniel-san
Thanks for the advice. It really help. Daniel-san. Can I ask one more question? Does the JR East SOuth Kokkaido Pass cover the train to kawaguchiko station?
Hi there,
The train to Kawaguchiko is not included, you can travel as far as Otsuki station from there the Fujikyu line of 1,140yen is required.
Thank you Daniel-san
