I'm going to visit Japan on June-July
we are group of 8. 4 of us (group A) will arrive at narita at 30 June 14.40 PM
and the other 4 (group B) arrive at 20.30 PM
we are planning to go to Osaka the next day (1 July) with the earliest train, i saw at the schedule it's at 7.44 AM
1. is it possible for the group B to exchange the JR Pass in the morning before 7.44 AM? is it typically crowded or take a long time to exchange the ticket?
2. if we exchange the ticket right before the trip, is it possible to reserve seats? Does 8 of us need to exchange it at the same time?
Thank You

Hi there,

The JR exchange office at Tokyo opens at 7:30, I am afraid that this would give very little time to get on the first train to Osaka. It would be better to exchange the JR Passes upon arrival for group B at Narita Airport (open until 21:45) and then set the first day of use for the following morning. You can also make seat reservations right away, after you've exchanged the JR Pass.

You do not have to exchange the JR Pass together but it would be faster.

Kind regards,
