Hi,

I just wanted to ask what pass I should purchase to get around Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo during my 12-day stay. Here's how my itinerary looks like for now:

Osaka (Bay Area)
Day 1 Arrival at Kansai airport; Osaka Castle, Namba Parks
Day 2 Day trip to Universal, Dotonbori
Day 3 Day trip to Koya-san

Kyoto (Honmachi)
Day 4 Osaka to Kyoto; Eastern Kyoto
Day 5 Day trip to Nara
Day 6 Day trip to Arashiyama
Day 7 Western Kyoto

Tokyo (Akihabara)
Day 8 Kyoto to Tokyo; Central / Northern Tokyo
Day 9 Odaiba
Day 10 Day trip to Nikko
Day 11 Day trip to Kamakura
Day 12 Western Tokyo; Departure at Narita Airport

Thank you for any help/info that you can provide.

Hi Cat,

Generally it is best to simply buy normal tickets as you travel if you make a one way route between the Kansai area and Tokyo. This because the price of a one way trip is below that of the cost of a 7 day JR Pass. It does make sense to get a 7 day JR Pass in case of a return.

I see you'll also visit Nikko. you may find this post about access options also handy.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
