Hello,

I will be visiting Japan for 5 weeks and I am having some trouble getting my itinerary together. I will be seeing as much as possible, meaning a lot of trains.

I would like to know the best routing to see below destinations, and whether or not my order is the best/most cost effective (I am using JR pass 21 days, maybe an additional 7 day pass if required):

Tokyo, Akita, Hakodate, Sapporo, Wakkanai, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, Hiroshima, Beppu, Nagasaki and back to Tokyo.

Appreciate any comments :)

Thanks,
Jake.

Hi Jake,

That's quite a trip and a JR Pass will work amazingly well here.

The route you will travel looks great but I would recommend adding in 2-3 stops on the way from Wakkanai to Kyoto as this is a long trip, I think its even impossible to do in a single day.

The same goes from Nagasaki to Tokyo, here you may want to add in a stop or 2 as well. Think of Hakata, Himeji, Kobe, Shizuoka or even Nagoya.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Thanks for your response Daniel, I'll look in to stopping in between those longer trips.

Regards,
Jake.
