Hi

Its going to be my first time to Japan and I need help!!! I understand that Japan have very extensive train network and I got kind of confused.....
I would most likely spend 7 days in Japan. Of which, most of my time I'll spend time in Tokyo, Shibuya, Ginza and Harijuku. I would make a trip to Mount Fuji and Disneyland and DisneySea as well.... I also need to travel to and from Narita airport to Tokyo. Do I need to book the train from Narita airport to Tokyo before I can board the train?

Given my proposed itinerary, it is worth to buy the 7 days Japan Rail pass? Please assist. Thank you.

Hi there,

The Narita Express is indeed by reservation only. You can however buy tickets up to 10 minutes before departure.

Given that your travel is limited to Tokyo and surrounding area - I think that it would be better to buy tickets as you travel. A JR Pass is better used for nationwide travel, for instance to Kyoto or Hiroshima.

Hope this helps!
Daniel
