is the JR card also valid for the public transport in tokyo, kyoto and osaka?

Hi there,
The JR Pass is valid for all JR lines in and around Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka.
This is enough for to reach most places in Tokyo and Osaka for Kyoto it is better to use the bus, although the JR Pass is can also be used for limited travel around Kyoto.

Here is a map of Osaka with all lines covered.
Other transport methods such as the Metro/Subway are not covered by the JR Pass.
