Hi there,

I'd like to have confirmation on the validity of the 7 days JR pass. Let's say I validate my pass on the 2nd of February at 2:00 PM, will it be valid until the 8th at 2:00 PM or it's not a matter of time and includes the entire day of the 2nd until 11:59 PM of the 8th ?

Thanks for enlightening me

Hi there,

The JR Pass is counted is full days and the first day of use is counted as a full day no matter what time you start using it.

For instance if you would start using it today (20-Jan) then it would expire on 26th - Jan 23:59.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Thanks for the answer Daniel !

I have a few more questions: When one purchases the JR pass online, you can specify the date you want to activate your pass. Do we have to activate it on that exact day then ? Or if I said I will activate it on the 2nd, but want to activate on the 3rd instead, is that alright ? Is it possible to exchange the pass before hand ( for example on the 1st ) but only activate it on the 3rd ?

And a few more questions not related to the activation of the pass itself:

I have been looking at hyperdia and many blogs about the Kawaguchiko-Shinjuku itinerary and the fastest way would be to take the LTD Express Super Azusa from Otsuki, I would like to make sure this LTD Express train is covered by the JR pass ? I read that some highway buses which take a shorter a time to reach Tokyo are also covered by the JR pass, could you please confirm ?

My last question is, from Osaka station to Kansai airport, is there any train covered by the JR pass ? It seems like a lot of people ask this question but I never really understand if it's a yes or a no...

It would be great if you could enlighten me on these too. Thanks a lot Daniel !

Regards,

Sophie

Hi Sopie,

We ask for an indication when you plan to use activate the JR Pass, this is because every JR Pass has to be activated within 90 days after purchase.

The (Super) Azusa express is covered by the JR Pass. As far as I am aware, there is no high way bus that travels the same route, is faster and is covered by the JR Pass.

The JR Pass can be used to Kansai Airport, you can either use the JR special rapid or the Haruka Express. Both are covered.

Hope this helps!
