I am traveling for the first time to Japan and I am extremely confuse on whether I should purchase the JR pass! if yes, 7 or 14 day pass? this is my itinerary:

day 1: Osaka
day 2: Osaka -Hiroshima - miyajima
day 3: miyajima - Hiroshima - okayama - naoshima
day 4: naoshima - Okayama
day 5: Okayama - kinosaki
day 6: kinosaki- Kyoto
day 7: Kyoto
day 8: Kyoto
day 9: Kyoto
day 10: kyoto-Tokyo
day 11: Tokyo
day 12: tokyo-narita

I would really appreciate any help or suggestion on how to use the JR pass.

Hello there,

I have made a list of ticket prices below to see if the JR Pass would be useful.

Osaka - Hiroshima ¥ 10,230
Hiroshima - Miyajima (return) ¥ 1,140
Hiroshima - Uno, for ferry to Naoshima ¥ 6,350
Uno - Okayama ¥ 580
Okayama - Kinosaki ¥ 6,560
Kinosaki - Kyoto ¥ 5,680
Kyoto - Tokyo ¥ 13,600
Tokyo - Narita Airport ¥ 3,020

For a total of ¥ 47,160. The 14 day JR Pass is ¥ 46,390 so you would be able to make small savings. However the JR Pass can also be used for local travel in Tokyo, Osaka and to a limited extend in Kyoto, adding more. Also the JR Pass will function as a single ticket for all your travel. Making it easy to get around!

Hope this helps,
Daniel
