Hi,

Is it useful to buy a JR pass with the following itinerary? We are staying quite long at some cities, so is it better to buy a JR pass or buy loose tickets? Should be a 14 day JR pass starting at day 4 the best option??

Day 1: arrival NRT airport Tokio - Tokio
Day 2: Tokio Disney
Day 3: Tokio Disney
Day 4: Tokio - Nikko
Day 5: Nikko - Tokio
Day 6: Tokio
Day 7: Tokio
Day 8: Tokio
Day 9: Tokio
Day: 10 Tokio - Hakone
Day 11: Hakone - Kyoto
Day 12: Kyoto
Day 13: Kyoto
Day 14: Kyoto
Day 15: Kyoto
Day 16: Kyoto - Osaka
Day 17: Osaka - Osaka airport

I'd like to hear some advice. Thanks!!

Hi there,

For your itinerary it would be best to buy normal tickets and maybe look at discount tickets locally. The JR Pass works very well if you travel between different regions in Japan. In the above itinerary this is basically limited to a one way Tokyo - Osaka.

There's a two day Nikko Pass that you may find useful when visiting Nikko.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
