Hello,

I am looking for advice please on whether a Jr rail pass works out cheaper for my itinerary.

Friday 25th September Haneda - Tokyo - Nagoya

Saturday 26th September Nagoya - Susuka (Formula 1 circuit)

Sunday 27th September Nagoya - Susuka

Monday 28th September Nagoya - Tokyo

We are staying in Tokyo after the Formula 1 but up to now what i would like to do is in the Tokyo area.

Any help would be much appreciated :-)

Hi there,

I had a look into ticket prices to see if a JR Pass could be useful.

This could come to the following:
Tokyo - Nagoya ¥ 10,890
Nagoya - Tokyo ¥ 10,890
Nagoya - Suzuka ¥ 1,890 one way (¥ 2,500 of which ¥ 1,890 is covered by the JR Pass). x 4 = ¥ 7,560

For a total of ¥ 29,340 vs the price of a 7 day JR Pass ¥ 29,110. So this is about the same. However the JR Pass does make for an interesting option since you can also use it for local travel in Tokyo and from Haneda Airport, or even for a day trip from Tokyo.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
