Hello..
How actually am I going to travel to osaka and kyoto from tokyo via JR? Is it worth it to make 1 whole day travel to osaka and kyoto? Because i have booked a 3 night stay in APA ronponggi hotel in tokyo. I am still working on my itirinary since this is going to be my fist visit to Japan. Therefore, i am a little bit clumsy 😁

Hi there,

It certainly can be done, though the questions you may ask yourself here are, what do I want to see/do in Kyoto/Osaka and is the travel time worth it to me.

A one way Tokyo - Kyoto is about 160min, while a one way Tokyo - Osaka is 180.

A JR Pass would be well worth it if you do, as it covers the trip using the Shinkansen bullet trains and one return already is enough to break even.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hyperdia is an online time table service. Its very handy to plan travel in Japan but also times a bit of time to learn.

That's plenty of time.

It will still be winter by then but there's plenty to see. In Kyoto I like Kyomizu dera temple, Gion, Kawaramachi, ishiki Market, Arashiyama, Uji, Fushimi Inara, the list goes on.

In Osaka, Namba/Shinsaibashi/Dotonbori are all close together and its perfect to experience the local atmosphere.

Yes, you can certainly include Universal. Keep in mind though that you will at least want half a day to explore it.

Hi Ezy!

That's simple, first travel to Tokyo station. From there you can use any Hikari bullet train to Shin-Osaka.

Enjoy the ride!
Daniel
