Travel from Narita to Kyoto

I'll be travelling to Narita airport in the summer and then travelling straight to Kyoto.

I have a few questions if you could possibly answer them...

1) How often are trains from narita to Kyoto/Tokyo
2) What would my route be to get to Kyoto station
3) Where would i collect my JR pass at narita airport
4) Is there a website where i can check times that trains run from say Kyoto to Tokyo shinjuku station
5) If i'm travelling on tuesday until monday , should i book my JR pass on the tuesday 3 months prior to using it?

Thank you very much

Hi there,

1.) During the day train depart every 30 minutes. To Tokyo and Kyoto.

2.) Coming from Narita Airport? That would be: take the Narita Express to Tokyo station and transfer there to the Hikari Shinkansen to Kyoto.

3.) Here is how to activate the JR Pass at Narita Airport.

4.) You can check time tables via

5.) The JR Pass has to be activated within 3 months after purchase. My advise would be to buy it 1-2 months in advance.

Hope this helps,
