Hello,
I wish to ask for advice and possible routes for 8 days exploring places of interest in Japan excluding the Tokyo and Kyoto areas since we are going to be there for 6 days each. We are landing in Tokyo and I was thinking traveling straight ahead in the area that will not be around Tokyo and Kyoto since we shall be there anyway.
Any suggestions?All the tips and ideas are more than great.

Hello there,
That's a lot of room to work with, the first option that comes to mind is to hop on the Hokuriku Shinkansen and travel via the north side to the west on the mainland. You can make stops at cities like Nagano, Matsumoto, Kanazawa, and Takayama. Most are located in around the Japanese Alps and are scenic and less frequented by tourists. It would also allow you to make amazing hikes in places like Kamikochi or walk the Nakasendo (Kiso Valley)..
This would already fill up most of your 6 days but if you have some more time, I'd recommend heading to the Island of Shikoku. You can visit places like Naoshima and Teshima by local ferries and just be removed from the busy city life all together.
