Hi i am going to be staying in tokyo during my stay in japan and was wondering is the jr pass just to get to other places such as osaka? Or can it be used on the regular trains in tokyo? Like to get to shibuya. Also if it was used for regular trains. Would it be worth to use for 14days of use? Please and Thank you
Toyko Rail Pass
Hi there,
The Japan Rail Pass also covers travel on the local JR Network in cities like Tokyo and Osaka. You can use local lines such as the JR Yamanote line to Shibuya (and many more places). That said, the JR Pass gives the best value when used on longer intercity trips. If you would visit Japan 2 weeks and spend 1 full week in Tokyo, then it would make sense to use a 7 day JR Pass for travel to Osaka and back and buy normal tickets for local travel around Tokyo.
Hope this helps,
Daniel
