hi,

We have 5 adults (including 2 seniors) and 2 kids, age 2 & 5yrs. We will be staying in Tokyo/Kawaguchiko for 8 Days.

Can I check with you a few things :-

We are thinking of taking Narita Express From Narita Airport to Shinagawa, where we are staying for 2 nights then we will go to Kawaguchiko for another 2 nights and back to Tokyo again for 3 nights.

Should we get the JR East Pass or JR Kanto Pass or just the Narita Express Return Ticket and buy the other train tickets separately.

Places in Tokyo we would like to visit will be Sanrio Puroland, Disney Theme Park, Cupnoodle Museum, etc.

Would appreciate it if you could let us know which is the best way to travel and which pass to get to maximise the usage.

luckily for you there is a new discounted return fare on the Narita Express 4000 Yen per Adult .. your children are young enough not to require a fare. https://www.jreast.co.jp/e/pass/nex_round.html

to get to Kawaguchiko by separate trains is also about 4000 Yen per adult so return is 8000 Yen per adult (A Kanto Pass is 8300 Per Adult) https://www.jreast.co.jp/e/kantoareapass/index.html

SHINAGAWA
JR Yamanote Line(Inner loop)
TOKYO Station
JR LTD. EXP KAIJI
OTSUKI Station
Fujikyu Railway
KAWAGUCHIKO

So I'd get 3 things .. a Narita return / A Kanto Pass and a Suica for general Tokyo travel
The cool thing about a Kanto Pass is you can use the Shinkansen too .. maybe a quick trip for the kids?
Enjoy!

Hello there,

I would also suggest using the Kanso Pass for this itinerary and use it to travel to Kawaguchiko back to Tokyo and see what else you can cover with it to maximize savings.

The other advise from @seki sounds great too, so I'd advise taking it :)

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi Ling,

All rail passes are counted in full days and the 1st day is counted as a full day. The pass expires at midnight on the last day.

Say you activate 3 day pass on may 6th, it will then expire at the end of the day on may 8th.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

One more thing Ling - Yes you can buy all three at Narita.
If you somehow forgot you can also get the Kanto Pass at major(big) stations in Tokyo and Yokohama.
Suica can be topped up at any station.
