Hi there! I purchased a JR pass and I was wondering if it was valid for going to Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto station from Tokyo via the Hayabusa Shinkansen (the ~4.5 hour ride). Do seats also need to be reserved on this Shinkansen? Thank!

Hi there,

Yes, the Hokkaido Shinkansen are covered by the JR Pass. Do keep in mind that the Hayabusa needs a reservation beforehand, this is free with the JR Pass.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
