tokyo to osaka to kyoto back to yokohama

Tokyo to Osaka to Kyoto back to Yokohama

First time in Japan. We have 6 nights before we join our cruise in Yokohama.
Our plane arrives at 5pm at Narita so we thought of staying 1 night in Tokyo near the train station to take the Shinkansen to Osaka next day. We are planning to stay in Osaka for 2 nights. Then from Osaka we are planning to take the Shinkansen to Kyoto and stay 3 nights before heading to Yokohama.

  1. If we purchase a JR pass is the Narita Express is included?
  2. What is the best way to get from Osaka train station to city centre?
  3. What tourist spots should we visit from Osaka and which ones from Kyoto?
  4. How long is the train from Osaka to Kyoto and Kyoto to Yokohama?
  5. Is there any transfer from Kyoto to Yokohama?
  6. Are all this rides covered covered by the JR pass?

Thank you!

Hello there,

1.) Yes, the NEX is covered.

2.) There are different parts in Osaka that you could consider the centre. Osaka station is located in the middle of the Umeda area, while you can use JR-Namba to access Namba, Shinsaibashi and Dotonbori.

3.) There are so many in each city, tell me what you are interested in and I can give you some suggestions :)

4.) Osaka - Kyoto is around 30 minutes. Kyoto to Yokohama is around 2h20min.

5.) You can use the Shinkansen directly from Kyoto to Shin-Yokohama stations. From there you may need local transport into the city.

6.) Yes!

Hope this answers your questions.

Kind regards,

Thank you so much! So helpful!

Since it’s our first time I guess the main tourist attractions like Nara and Mt Fuji. We would like to book tours but unsure which ones best to go to if we are in Osaka or Kyoto.

Are we best just to stay in one place like Osaka or Kyoto rather than stay at two different places?
