Konnichiwa,

We are a couple in Japan for 12 nights for the 2nd time, but 1st time with 7-day JR pass. Our itinerary so far is as follows:

12/25-12/28: Arrive in Narita, Shinjuku
12/28-01/03: Namba, Osaka with day trips to Kyoto, Nara, Kobe, maybe Hiroshima/Miyajima
01/03-01/06: Shibuya, Depart from Narita

For arrival we plan on using the N'ex one way discount for travelers($15 approx). We plan to use multiway metro passes for the time we're in Tokyo and use the JR pass for shinkansen to and from Osaka and whatever day trips we eventually decide. We understand it will be a busy time for travel, but we look forward to the experience. Will we have trouble booking seat reservations for Sunday the 28th when we arrive on Xmas? Did we plan well with the pass or would we be better off with a 14-day pass? Are there any other passes or deals for travelers we should look into?

Konichiwa!

You'll have more than enough time to reserve your tickets on the 25th when you arrive. So no worries there :)

The 7 day JR Pass would be perfect if you can cover Tokyo - Osaka - Hiroshima - Kyoto (and day trips) - back to Tokyo with it. Even a 14 day JR Pass would help you make savings here but the 7 day JR Pass simply is a home run!

It all looks good for the rest, love the added visit to Miyajima!
