Tokyo-Hakone-Kanazawa-Kyoto-Tokyo

Hoping you guys can help. I'll be heading to Tokyo from NRT on a Saturday afternoon. Going to Hakone that Wednesday, then to Kanazawa the next day. I'll leave Kanazawa the next Sunday for Kyoto and head to NRT from Kyoto on a Wednesday. Does a 7 day pass make sense? When should I activate it?

Thanks

Hi there,

Yes, a 7 day JR Pass would help you make great savings compared to purchasing normal tickets. I would recommend starting using it on the day that you travel to Kanazawa, this way your return to Narita Airport would also be included.

Curious about how much you can use save? Use our JR Pass Fare Calculator to find an approximate ticket cost of a single route or even your full itinerary.

Have a great trip!

I just adjusted my itinerary and would leave for Kanazawa on a Tuesday. Does it still make sense?

In that case it would not make a lot of sense to use one.

Would you possibly help clarify for me. I think I might be doing something wrong on the fare calculator. When leaving Hakone to go to Kanazawa do i need to get to Tokyo station first to get the Shinkansen? If so, and I do this on a Wednesday, then leave Kanazawa for Kyoto on a Sunday and Kyoto for Narita Station on a Wednesday is it not cheaper to buy a pass? Thanks
