Hi Sadiq,

Thank you for posting your full itinerary, this makes giving advice a lot easier :)

I see that you will stay a nice amount of time in both Tokyo and Osaka, with 3 visits to Kyoto. It's a good plan as Kyoto is only 29minutes away by train from Osaka, so it's easy to travel around.

As for what JR Pass to get, with the current itinerary it would actually be best to buy normal tickets when you travel. The 7 day JR Pass would be a good choice if you could make the return Tokyo - Osaka/Kyoto with it, right now these trips are 8 days apart.

You could try to rearrange your itinerary that you return to Tokyo on the 24th, for instance with a late afternoon bullet train and get a 7 day JR Pass. I am sure that you could make some nice savings with it as it covers the local JR Network in Osaka as well as your travel between Kyoto and Osaka.

Have a great trip!
Daniel

Hello!

I have the same situation but with below itinerary:
11/13 Osaka Aeroport
11/14 Osaka
11/15 Osaka-Kyoto
11/16 Kyoto
11/16 Kyoto-Tokyo
11/17 Tokyo
11/18 Tokyo-Kyoto
11/19 Kyoto - Osaka Aeroport.
I don't see how the JR 7 days pass can cover all those travels (accordig to my research I can cover just Kyoto-Tokyo). Now reading above I noticed that are also some local networks included. Can you, please let me know how I am saving money buyiong this pass for 7 days?
You replay will be very welcome!
Thank you!

Hi Tatiana,

I do think that the JR Pass will help you save money as well. A 7 day JR Pass is about the same price as a normal tickets for a return Tokyo Kyoto. So basically any additional travel you do with the pass is what you save. This includes travel to and from Kansai Airport and local trains in Osaka and around Kyoto.

Enjoy!

Hello Daniel!

Thank you very much for your answer.
Yes, now I noticed you are right!
One more thing:
Can I use a direct JR for: Osaka - Kyoto and also Kyoto - Osaka Kansai and which one?
It is not very clear for me.

Thank you and have a nice day!

Hi Tatiana,

Basically all your travel in your earlier posted plan is covered by the JR Pass. There's also direct trains between all places you wish the visit, this includes Kansai Airport - Osaka, Kyoto - Osaka and Kyoto - Tokyo.

Have a great trip!
Daniel
