Hello Praire,

This route is unfortunately not covered by the Hokuriku pass between Nagoya - Kyoto on the Shinkansen. It means you will have to pay the full fare (the JR Pass does cover this route).

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Daniel, i read about JR Takayama-Hokuriku pass. below:

OKURIKU REGION

Nestled in the heart of Japan between the sea and the mountains, the Hokuriku Region is full of cultural and historical treasures.

Visit Kanazawa, the center of contemporary art and artisans, known for its famous garden Kenroku-en, one of the three most beautiful in Japan.

Explore the Japanese Alps by bus, passing through the well-preserved village of Shirakawa-go, with its traditional thatched roofs, classified as a World Heritage by UNESCO.

Be charmed by Takayama, a small mountain town with many traditional houses and artisans’ shops.

This pass will also allow you to travel to the cities of Kyoto, Osaka, and Nagoya.

i have one question. refer one of your comment here, you told this pass cant cover kyoto to osaka / nagoya to osaka.i dont understand.

Hi Zulkar,

The Pass allows for free travel between Kyoto -[Limited Express train]- Kanazawa -[bus]- Shirakawago -[bus]- Takayama - [Limited Express train] - Nagoya. It however does not cover the Shinkansen (bullet train) directly between Nagoya - Kyoto/Osaka. This means that you'll have to buy a normal tickets if you wish to travel between both cities directly. Using the pass from Nagoya - Kyoto would mean taking the whole route again, which adds many hours extra travel time.

Tq.Daniel.this is my plan
Day 1 : JR Nagoya to JR Takayama (hida limited express)
Day 2 : Takayama to Kanazawa via Nohi bus
Day 2 : Kanazawa to Osaka (thunderbird express)
Day 3 : JR Osaka to JR kyoto station (kyoto line local train)
Day 3 : JR kyoto station to JR Kanazawa (thunderbird)
Day 4 : Kanazawa to Takayama by Nohi bus
Day 4 : Takayama to Nagoya (hida limited exp)

From my research and ask to expert blogger about JR Pass, all this cover by JR Hokuriku-Takayama Pass. Its right?
