Stopover in Hiroshima & JR for 14 days

Hello!
I'm going to Japan in October 21st and be back in November 6th,
I have a little question about a stopover in Hiroshima.
I'll be leaving from Fukuoka at 9AM shinkansen (already checked at Hyperdia) and arriving in Hiroshima at 11AM. Then i'd like to get on the shinkansen at 7PM (also checked at Hyperdia) to to go Kyoto, everything on the same day. So my question is: is that possible for JR users? To stay somewhere and then get on other train afterwards?

Also, as you can see, i'll be staying in Japan for 17 days. Do you think it's best to buy a 14 or 21 day pass? I'll be staying the last week in Tokyo, since i'll be departing from there.

Hi there!

The station kinda closes during the night and there's no place to stay for train travellers. What I would suggest looking into is a business hotel near the station or perhaps spend the night in an internet / manga cafe near the station.

As for a 14 day vs 21 day JR Pass. I would suggestion going for the 14 day JR Pass unless you do a massive amount of travel in the 3 days not covered by the JR Pass. The difference between a 14 day and 21 day JR Pass is 12600 yen, so you would have to do at least this amount of travel for the upgrade to be worth it.

I hope this helps!

Thanks for you reply, Daniel-san!
But i was wondering about the time shown in Hyperdia for this shinkansen at 7PM. Do you think that Hyperdia could have had it wrong?
Here's the link from my search, would you take a look at it for me?
http://www.hyperdia.com/en/cgi/en/search.html?dep_node=HIROSHIMA&arv_node=KYOTO&via_node01=&via_node02=&via_node03=&year=2013&month=10&day=24&hour=19&minute=00&search_type=0&search_way=&transtime=undefined&sort=0&max_route=5&ship=off&sprnozomi=off&lmlimit=null&search_target=route&facility=reserved&sum_target=7

Thanks a lot!

Hi there!

I am very sorry, somehow I completely misread your post. I thought you would arrive late on Hiroshima and than planned to take a Shinkansen the next morning.

Reading your question again, I can confirm that it is absolutely possible to do this. The JR Pass really allows for unlimited train travel during its validity period so you can take a train in the morning and travel on in the evening. No problem!

As for the Hyperdia link, the route looks fine that me, what did you think was wrong about it?
