My itinery:

NRT airport --> Osaka --> Kyoto --> Tokyo
Osaka as a base point. Osaka --> Nara --> Osaka
Osaka --> Kyoto --> Osaka
Osaka back to Tokyo

Is JR pass necessary here? Based on my calculation, its not necessary. But im not too sure. Your advice is greatly appreciated! thanks.

Hi there,

I would certainly recommend using a 7 day JR Pass, given that you would do the above travels in 7 days.

Not only does it cover all of the routes you travel, it will also give you good savings compared to purchasing normal tickets.

Hope this helps and happy travels,
Daniel

Hi Daniel, thanks for the reply.

My next question would be, when do i activate it? Right away once i touched down the airport to Osaka?

Hi again!

Yes, traveling from Narita Airport - Osaka is the most expansive route in your itinerary.

So using your JR Pass there makes a lot of sense!
