Hi there!

Let's have a look at ticket prices and find out:

Narita Airport - Tokyo ¥ 2,940
Tokyo - Takayama ¥ 14,300
Takayama - Toyama ¥ 3,280
Shinano Omachi - Matsumoto ¥ 650
Matsumoto - Tokyo ¥ 9,850
Tokyo - Narita Airport ¥ 2,940

For a total of ¥ 33,960 or ¥ 5,660 in savings as the 7 day JR Pass is ¥ 28,300. Note that you'd probably end up with even more savings as the JR Pass can also be used for local travel in Tokyo on the JR Network.

I hope this helps!

Hi daniel- san,

Thank you for the reply. It really helps me a lot.

For the jr pass, is it posssible to purchase straight at narita or i have to purchase from my home country? For price, is it the same everwhere or is there any agent to sell cheaper than another?

And another question regarding the jr pass, does odakyu limited express included? I am thinking of going to hakone with shikansen from tokyo on day 5 and, back from hakone to shinjuku using the odakyu ltd exp.

Thank you

Jenny

Hi Jenny,

The JR Pass can only be purchased outside of Japan so be sure to order one beforehand. You can order one online here.

The base price in yen is everywhere the same but we use a very sharp exchange rate giving you the best price! Also shipping is free to many countries.

The Shinkansen to Hakone is covered but the Odakyu line is run by the Odakyu companies, which operates separately from JR and does not accept the JR pass.

I hope this helps too!

Hi daniel,

For the reserved seat, do i have to reserve days in advance to take the shinkansen and any other train?

For example the shinkansen train from tokyo to takayama, do i have to reserve that when i just reach tokyo? How it actually works for the reserved seat?

Thank yougx

Hi daniel,

Just one more questions, is it worth for me to buy the green pass for my trip or its saver to just pay extra per trip for green pass seat?

Thank you

Hi Jenny,

Going Green (so to speak) is money well spend in my option. Ordinary class is fine for most people but Green Class makes travel a much more relaxed experience, it will especially be nice from Tokyo - Takayama.

Have a great trip & let me know if you have any question :)
Daniel
