We are a family of 4 persons - two adults and two kids between 6-11 years. We are planning to stay in Tokyo and the travel to Koyoty for a few days.

We would like to travel with the high speed train Shinkansen. Is it worth it to buy a JR Pass - or just a normal return ticket? We are planning to stay most of the time in Tokyo and expect to use the Metro.

Thank you for your answers

Hi there,

Do you mean Kyoto? If so, then yes, a 7 day JR Pass would give you good savings as a normal return ticket Tokyo - Kyoto is about the same price as a 7 day JR Pass. Any additional travel you cover with it goes to your savings. Be it travel to the airport, local travel on JR lines, or even a day trip. For instance with the family to Universal Studio in Osaka.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
