questions & answers: using the japan rail pass

need advice please!

Need advice please!

Hi there.
Need some advice for travelling to Japan using JR rail pass.
We are a group of 4 people.
Sights to visit will include Tokyo-Osaka-Fukuoka.
Is JR rail pass valid for all 3 cities or?
Await any kind reply.

Hello there,

Yes the JR is valid for travel between all these cities. It can also be used for the local JR network in each city but you may have to use other local transport as well, such as the metro, which is not included.

Hope this helps,

You can easily take the shinkansen bullet train to all the cities. But doing it from Tokyo to Fukuoka or the return all at one go would be long and tiring.
With Tokyo/Osaka, you can use the Pass for the loop lines. In Osaka it is of limited benefit but in Tokyo the Yamanote Line stops at several popular tourist places.
For Fukuoka though it is pretty much useless. But you can get a cheap subway day pass or a Fukuoka Tourist City Pass. Just outside of Fukuoka, don't miss the Nanzoin Temple - it is one of Japan's best, yet still virtually unknown to the world. You can see a lot of other good places to see here and there is also a good Fukuoka Tourism Guide.

For Tokyo info, see:

For Osaka, see:

But if you have not seen Kyoto/Nara yet, you definitely should not miss them.
