Hi Daniel san

I wonder if you can help to advice if I should buy JR Pass.
My itinerary...
1. Reach Narita Airport at 8am
2. Go straight to Osaka for 5D4N stay
3*. Go to Hakone for 2D1N stay
4. Go back to Tokyo for 4D3N stay
5. Need to reach Narita Airport by 4pm

  • But I'm not sure if JR Pass can cover Osaka to Hakone & Hakone to Tokyo.

Many thanks in advance

Hi there,

Yes, the JR Pass does cover the route Osaka - Hakone, you can use the Hikari Shinkansen from Shin-Osaka to Odawara station, from there local trains run into Hakone. The JR Pass also covers the route Odawara - Tokyo but not local travel within Hakone.

With the above trip, I do recommend using a 7 day JR Pass.

Hope this helps,
