Konnochiwa!
My family is planning a trip to Japan from 19 May to 26 May. Arriving in Narita Airport and travelling to Kyoto for a few nights. There after back to Tokyo city and one of the days to visit Hakone. Final day will travel back home to Singapore from Tokyo city via Haneda Airport.

Should we buy the 7 day JR pass for our case? Will the pass able to cover all the journeys? What are the trains to use and should I book them in advance? I have an elderly mother travelling with me, will the trains transit be easy for her?
Thanks much and look forward to your advice!

Hi there,

Yes, a 7 day JR Pass would be recommended if you cover the route to Kyoto, Hakone and back to Tokyo with it. Travel between all these places is included but you may still need transport locally, depending on where you would like to go.

Overall the JR system is very convenient to use and it should not be too hard to travel with a senior. You can always ask station staff for help if you do run into any kind of obstacle.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
