Hi

My family of 4 are travelling from Narita - Tokyo - Kyoto - Hakone - Gotemba - Haneda airport in December 2016 and would like to ask if we should buy the 7 day Japan Rail Pass.
Here's our trip plan.

11th Dec - arrive in Narita and transfer to Shinjuku. Stay in Tokyo for 2 nights.
13th Dec - travel from Tokyo to Kyoto. Stay in Kyoto for 2 nights.
15th Dec - travel from Kyoto to Hakone. Stay in Hakone for 2 nights.
17th Dec - travel to Gotemba for a day of shopping before heading to Haneda airport

Not sure if the whole trip can be covered with both the JR Pass and the Hakone Freepass.

Pls kindly advise.

Thanks,
Pam

Hello Pam,

Using a 7 day JR Pass here will give you great savings compared to buying normal tickets. Add to that the Hakone Free Pass for travel around Hakone and I don't see any other travel which would not be included. Only within cities could it be that you still have to use a local bus, tram or different service. This will be really small though.

Travel to Haneda is also covered by the JR Pass using the Tokyo Mono Rail.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
