I am visiting Japan for seven days but am unsure as to whether to buy a pass or individual tickets as I will only be using the Shinkansen to take a return trip to Kyoto from Tokyo.
Also using the regular train to take day trips out to Kamakura and using the underground metro train system to get around Tokyo.
What is the best thing to do please?
Many thanks,
Nikki
Hello Nikko,
The cost of a 7 day JR Pass is about the same the same cost of a normal return ticket Tokyo - Kyoto. With the JR Pass, you get 7 days of unlimited travel for the same price and can make savings even if the only travel you do with it is to/from Narita Airport.
The JR Pass also covers travel to Kamakura and local JR lines around Tokyo.
Hope this helps,
Daniel
