MISSING MY RESERVED TRAIN SCHED; BOARDING TIME?

Hi,

My trip is from Sep 29, 2017 to Oct 12, 2017, 14 days, from HAKATA to HAkodate and back. This is my first time to use a JR PAss and first time riding the shinkansen.

I pIan to reserve my seats for my various destinations. BUT, if I make a reservation for a seat and I missed my train, can I just ride on the next train ?

Is there a boarding time or a call / announcement for boarding my train like in airports?

Thanks!

Hi,
Yes, and yes. But not exactly like airports. If you're not going to make your train, please let JR know. There are no penalties for missing your train on a pass - yet.

Hi, thats good to know :] Thank you !

One more concern.... I am taking the HAYABUSA from Tokyo to Hanamaki to Hakodate back to AOmori and Tokyo, does this 'take the next train also apply for the HAYABUSA which I understand is a 'MUST RESERVE A SEAT' train?

Hi,
Yes, you can take the next train. But as you mentioned, the Hayabusa requires seat reservations. You can easily do it at the JR office.

Best of luck.
