Hello,
I am travelling to Japan with our family of two adults and four children 14,13,8 and 6. from the 13 april to the 25th.
We land at Narita and must travel onwards to kyoto straight away where we will spend 6 nights and visit nara and perhaps go to Osaka also. We then return to tokyo for 4 nights and base ourselves in and around tokyo then fly out from Haneda.
Judging by our minimal travel requirements given above which may increase depending on our itinerary is the rail pass worth purchasing and also is the first class option a worthwhile option?

thanking you in advance

Hi Concretatto,

I do think that the JR Pass is worth considering, the price of a 7 day JR Pass is almost the same as a normal return ticket Tokyo - Kyoto using the Shinkansen. The JR Pass also covers travel from Narita Airport, to Nara and Osaka. You could certainly make nice savings with all these routes added in.

You will be fine in Ordinary class but Green Class can be nice if you want the added comfort.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
