Thank you for your previous reply. I have a few more questions:

  1. During my trip in OSAKA, I noted they have a lot of local subway /train lines. Can I use the JR pass for this subway line ie. Midosuji line and also the Sen-Nichimae line, Kintetsu-Nara line. OR do I have to use the line with "JR" sign on it?

  2. Can I reserve seats for the shinkansen from Tokyo to Osaka? is there any fee for reservation of the 'general' seats (Not the green carriage)? and where do I do the reservation for these seats?

Thank you

Hi there,

1.) The JR Pass is not valid on the Tokyo Metro or Osaka subway, you can however use local JR lines. Such as the Osaka loop line.

2.) Seat reservations are free with the JR Pass. Reservations can be made at any station. Just show your JR Pass and tell the staff where you wish to go.

Hope this helps,
