Hi!

Is it possible to not purchase the JR pass? How do I purchase tickets for Shinkansen trains to Kyoto and Osaka without using the JR pass? Can I buy tickets at the train/bus stations for those trains/buses that are covered by the JR pass?

If I get the JR pass, I will still have to purchase the Suica card etc right?

Hi there,

Without the JR Pass, you purchase tickets like any other person. Go to the station and buy them from a ticket machine or ticket office.

Suica can still be nice to have, even with the JR Pass. To use for other payments, like the metro or even at a convenience store.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
