Hi there

We had some friends recommend to us buying the 7 days JR Pass. I just wanted to get some more information and confirm it is the most cost effective to our itinerary.

Day 1 - Arrive at Narita Airport 6.30pm. Staying in Koto, Tokyo
Day 2 & 3 - Staying in Shinjuku, Tokyo
Day 4 - Hakone (First use of JR pass from today)
Day 5 & 6 - Kyoto
Day 7, 8 & 9 - Osaka
Day 10 - Shinjuku, Tokyo
Day 11 - Leave from Narita Airport 12.30pm

What is the best way to get from and to the Airport, as should we get the JR Pass, we are not planning to use it until Day 4?

Your help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Jess

Hi Jess,

The JR Pass covers all of your rail travel and you would allow you to make good savings.

The 7 day JR Pass is about the same price as a normal return ticket Tokyo - Kyoto or Tokyo - Osaka on the Shinkansen. So any additional travel is basically what you save. With that in mind, the JR Pass would be a great option. You would make best use of it to activate it when you travel to Hakone.

For travel from the airport consider the 1,500yen Narita Express ticket it's brilliant!

Hope this helps!
Daniel
