I'm looking to buy a 7 day JR pass and was wondering how the start date is determined? Does it start when we go to the ticket office to exchange the tickets or can we specify which date to start when we collect the ticket?

Hi there!
You can select a date up to 30 days in the future the moment when you activate your JR Pass in Japan. You can either start using it right away or select your own date.
