Hi Boon,

Yes no problem! You can use the JR Pass all the way from Sendai to Sapporo. There are a couple of transfers on the route and it does take a good amount of time but it is all included.

I think what you are confused with is that as of March 2016 the Shinkansen will be extended to Hakodate. For now you can use ltd. express trains instead.
