Here is my itinerary:

Day 1: Arrive Narita Airport, Shinkansen to Kyoto
Day 2: Central Kyoto
Day 3: Southern Higashiyama
Day 4: Arashiyama
Day 5: Southern Kyoto
Day 6: Kyoto to Nara
Day 7: Nara to Osaka to Mount Koya
Day 8: Mount Koya to Osaka
Day 9: Osaka to Kobe/Himeji and back to Osaka
Day 10: Osaka to Narita Airport

Should I get a JR Pass and if so, which days would you recommend using it on? Or if the JR Pass isn't worth it, are there any other passes that I can use?

Thanks.

Hi there,

Its a bit difficult to match a JR Pass to your itinerary. A 7 day JR Pass would be great if you could return to Tokyo within 7 days and you are just below the cost of a 14 day JR Pass to make savings.

As your itinerary is right now, the best option is to buy normal tickets. However add a side trip to Hiroshima or return to Tokyo sooner and then a JR Pass would quickly be worth it.

You can check the cost of tickets and compare them against the cost of a JR Pass in our Fare Calculator.

Hope this helps,
Daniiel
