Hi, I was very certain on purchasing the JR Pass and I went to read up more and found out there is also a JR East Pass?

I am considering to travel from Narita Airport to Osaka and then back to Shinjuku.

It would be advisable to get the JR Pass right? JR Pass is nation wide yes?

Hi there,

Yes! Both are different. The JR Pass is valid nation wide while the JR East Pass is only valid for the JR East area.

Travel to Osaka is more down south so a JR East pass would not be helpful. However a nationwide JR Pass would be perfect.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Thank you Daniel.

Can you advise me on Luggage space in Trains AND Bullet Trains?

What kind of ticket (reserved, green, etc) is more advisable?

My boyfriend and I are carrying two large luggages EACH so I would try to make sure that my luggages will not be a burden to others. I know that there is leg room between each seats but knowing that there might be a possibility that there won't be space behind the last seats, what are the other possible ways to stow my luggages?

Purchasing the JR Pass, I am entitled to a free ride on N'EX, must I request a ticket from the JR East travel service center?

Thank you so much for your answers!

Hi again!

Generally I would advise using a normal ticket for travel, as trains already are very nice. There is a chance that luggage is full but a of suitcases/bags can also be placed in the overhead compartments, somewhat as in an Airplane.

The NEX is free with the JR Pass but the NEX also only has reserved seats. This means you have to reserve a seat before boarding the train (free with the JR Pass).

Hope this helps,
Daniel
