Good night!

We will go to Japan in April. We have some questions and we hope you could help us.

  • Is it possible to go to Nara and Yoshinoyama in the same day? The specific day will be 2 April because of we will stay in Osaka. Our nearest JR station is Shinimamiya, and we have been seing that JR pass covers both, except the travel to Yoshinoguchi station to Yoshinoyama, but we couldn´t find it in Hyperdia. What is the best itinerary to go to both places?

  • We want to go to Arashiyama (30/3 before 2 pm) with Shin-Kobe to Sagaarashiyama, but there are few shinkansens to come back after 19.25 pm, and next option is about 21.46 pm, too late. We are not really sure about this.

  • If we want to buy the wifi, where we should pick it up? At the Narita airport? We arrive about 13.30 pm. Will we need the battery too? We saw that there is free wifi in Japan for 14 days, can we use it? Is it possible to use around Japan (Kobe, Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Hiroshima, Miyajima, Hakone and Tokyo?

  • We are very confused with lines that we can use with JR Pass in Kyoto, for example: Sagano Line and Nara Line are included?. Ufukuji station and Uji station we suppose that are included too, but there is not choice when we use Hyperdia from Matomachi(Hyogo).

Thank you so much for your help...

Hi there,

Yes, it would be possible to visit both in one day. When searching for Yoshino on Hyperdia, leave the private railway option on, this way you can also find the route to Yoshino.

You can also use the Shinkaizoku (JR rapid special) from Sannomiya (Kobe) to Osaka and Kyoto. This is faster than the Shinkansen and has very frequent service.

Having Pocket wifi rental in Japan can make life very easy in Japan, for instance when searching the route to go. Free Wifi is available but not everywhere and may be slow or require sign-up beforehand. The Wifi counter at Narita Airport remains open until all flights have landed, so picking it up there may be a good idea.

All JR lines in Kyoto are included, you can check this by removing the [Private railway] option in Hyperdia. Without this, only JR lines are shown.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Good night!

How do we go between Nara to Yoshinoyama with Hyperdia?. I can´t find it, could you give me a link with an example, please?

And I have the same problem with the travel to Arashiyama, I can´t find it in HyperdiaI, the specific JR rapid special that you describes (Shinkaizoku). Please, give me a link with an example.

I understand that local train is incluided in JR Pass, don´t you? I hope to travel across Japan will be easier than the previous organization of the different journeys, this is really crazy!

We will buy the wifi pocket, of course...

Thanks for your help, Daniel!

Hi again!

Sorry for the later reply, its been very busy on the forum.

Here is a route. from Nara to Yoshino.

For Arashiyama use SAGAARASHIYAMA and for Kyoto - Osaka - Sannomiya (kobe), simply use these stations. Like this](http://www.hyperdia.com/cgi/en/search.html?dep_node=KYOTO&arv_node=OSAKA&via_node01=SANNOMIYA%28JR%29&via_node02=&via_node03=&year=2016&month=03&day=13&hour=15&minute=07&search_type=0&search_way=&transtime=undefined&sort=0&max_route=5&faretype=0&ship=off&privately=off&lmlimit=null&search_target=route&facility=reserved&sum_target=7). In Hyperdia the Shinkaizoku service is called JR Special in English.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Don't worry too much about train travel, it all speaks for itself once you are in Japan and have done it a couple of times.

Good morning.

I thought that Shinkaizou was a specific train´s name (lol). Everyday, I learn something new about this search. Maybe I´m confusing myself, but I hope that when we will travel through Japan, it will be easier.

Thanks for your help, I hope so.

Really grateful...
