Hi there, we are travelling to Tokyo from New Zealand this Friday the 15th January, arriving in Tokyo on 16th Jan. We wish to purchase a 14 day JR pass but there is no time for it to be couriered to us before we leave New Zealand. Are we able to purchase a 14 day pass online and have the pass emailed to us or delivered to our apartment in Tokyo?

Kind regards, Jenni

Hello Jenni,

We can ship the JR Pass to your accommodation in Japan. However please order the JR Pass before you depart to Japan, as we can't accept orders originating within Japan. Just put in your address in Japan when placing the order.

Online delivery (such as via e-mail) is not possible.

Shipping to Japan takes about 3 business days:

Hope this helps,
Daniel

We are trying to work out if the JR pass is an economical pass to get for us? We are a family of 5 adults and this is our itinerary:

Tokyo to Nozawa Onsen 18 January
Nozawa Onsen to Hakuba 23 January
Hakuba to Kyoto 27 January
Kyoto to Hiroshima 29 January
Hiroshima to Tokyo 1 February

Can you please advise us if we can use JR pass for these journeys and how much it would cost per person? Also, are we able to use the JR pass for any bus travel we might need to take in conjunction with the train travel?

Regards, Jenni

Hello Jenni,

Yes, a 14 day JR Pass would help you make good savings compared to purchasing normal tickets for the above itinerary. You can use it for train travel between all the places you plan to visit, so no need to use a bus.

However nice to know may be that the sightseeing bus in Hiroshima is included, or you can even take the ferry to Miyajima from Hiroshima.

The total cost of your rail tickets is approximately 56,890 JPY, while the 14 day JR Pass is 46,390 JPY. The JR Pass can also be used for local travel on JR lines, to the airport and more. Adding even more to your savings.

Hope this helps too!

Is that 46,390 JPY per person?

Yes, that's the price per rail pass, per person. The ticket price is also per person.

Would it be possible to pick up the rail pass from Haneda Airport, Tokyo when we arrive on 16 January?

Hi again!

It is not possible to pick-up the JR Pass at the airport (only exchange it).

The best way would be to ship it to your accommodation.
