Hi I'll be bringing my kids aged 6 and 9 to Japan for their first time. For convenience, we'll fly in/out of Tokyo. As we have quite a few days to spare, I'm thinking of covering Hakone (maybe Fujiten for some snow activities for my kids), Takayama and Shirakawago in 5 days. Is this too aggressive? As it's my first time planning a trip to Japan, kindly advise the most efficient train trip (what kinds of train to take), thanks!

Hi there,
It depends a little on how much your children enjoy travel but I think the idea is feasible. I wish my parents would have taken me on the Shinkansen at that age.
We also have a sample itinerary for a family trip with the JR Pass you may find it useful for inspiration.
Hope this helps,
Daniel
