Is this the best option?

Hi there,

I am planning on travelling for 14 days in Japan going on this route:

Tokyo
Kyoto
Naioshima (art island)
Hiroshima
Tokyo

Is the best thing to do to get a JR pass for 14 days, or are there other options if I'm only planning on making 4 long train journeys?

Thank you!
Anusha

Hi Anusha,

These are actually quite long trips, especially travel to Hiroshima. I entered your itinerary in our FareCalculator and you can make considerable savings using the JR Pass. I used the cheaper option via Uno to travel to Naoshima but some travellers prefer to travel via Takamatsu (which is more expansive but also covered by the JR Pass). Additionally the JR Pass is valid on local JR lines in Tokyo, Kyoto and Hiroshima, as well as the ferry to Miyajima and Hiroshima sightseeing bus.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
